I think I’m tone deaf. Can you help me?

Everyone who can speak can sing or be taught to sing!

How your singing voice sounds is a result of many different factors such as musical aptitude, education, lessons, natural ability etc.

Some people are born with the innate gift of song, some work for many years to achieve a sound that is pleasing to the ear, but everyone that can use their vocal chords to make a sound can be taught to sing.

What Technique Does Becki Use?

My  technique is based on 17th and 18th century principles of singing developed by the Old Italian School of Singing.  These guys really knew their stuff!

My goal is to train your voice to sing in a free and natural manner, smoothly, from the bottom to the top of your range with no sudden breaks or changes in quality.

What can I expect from a lesson?

In your first lesson you will receive a personalised assessment of your voice, and from there you will be given a lesson plan that is specific to the needs of your voice.  Over time we will continually reassess and build upon previous achievements using exercises and techniques that are tailored to you.

Your excercises, repetoire and other useful information will be uploaded to your own personal area on the website.

Do you teach children or have an age limit?

Anyone can benefit from voice lessons, here at Vocalise we recommend the minimum starting age is 6 years old.   There is no upper age limit!

What is your cancellation policy?

Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours notice of the agreed appointment time are still chargeable. You can find all of our terms and conditions by clicking here.

How does an online lesson work?

Online lessons are delivered in the same way as an in person, with some small differences.

Online lessons tend to have a slight delay so your exercises will be played for you slightly differently, but ultimately your experience will be very similar to an in person lesson.  Please be ready and prepared 5 minutes before the lesson is due to start.

You need to have access to a computer with a microphone, and ideally, be in a room where you will not be disturbed.

Online lessons can be taken over Skype, Zoom, or Facebook Video Chat.
